Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, better known as the city of brotherly love Trina M. Purdy-Gilbert began training in Ballet, Modern, Jazz and African at the early age of five years old with La` Cher Tari Dance School under the direction of Cheryl Gaines-Jenkins for a number of years where she mainly performed at the Philadelphia Academy ofMusic home to the Philadelphia Orchestra. She continued her studies of dance at the High School of Creative and Performing Arts. After graduating high school she continued dancing professionally until taking a brief hiatus to further advance her education at Devry University of Georgia for a major of Business Administration with a concentration in Project Management. In 2004 she began dancing again later becoming a teacher and director of the Teen Praise Dance Ministry at Antioch Lithonia Missionary Baptist Church. In 2007 she was led to a dance group known as A David Dance Company where she is now a dance member of the senior company and is an instructor of ballet, modern jazz, and liturgical.
